OUR KIDS
The Placement Process
A referral
for placement can be made by any interested individual through a telephone
call to our office. One of our caseworkers will send you an application
packet to complete for the child, or you may download one. When this
information is returned, an intake committee reviews the material and makes
a decision to continue the intake process or to reject the applicant. The
final process before placement is a pre-placement visit, where the applicant
(and other interested parties) will visit our campus.
Children come into placement for many reasons. Children are accepted for placement through two methods:
Parental or guardian placement and court placement. Parents can expect to sign several forms during
placement that will explain their responsibilities. If a child is covered by
medical insurance, it is necessary for this coverage to be continued.

print out the application, fill in all necessary information, and fax it to

What Are the Programs in Place to Help Kids?
-
Residential Care is our
primary care program. Children are placed in cottages with seven other
children. Christian houseparents are with them 24 hours a day. Each
cottage is a Christian home that supplies meals, Bible studies, and
activities.
-
Foster Care enables a
Christian family to take a child into their own home to give more one on
one attention to the child's needs. Southern Christian Home provides
financial compensation and other support when needed.
-
Adoption usually occurs
long before a child comes to us, but we are prepared to provide the
services when needed.
-
Hope for Another Day
Program prepares a child to take on life with the needed knowledge like
filling out job applications, financial budgeting, cooking, and personal
hygiene. This program gives them that knowledge through supervised
independence and classes taught by our social services.
-
R.A.C.E. is a mentally and
physically challenging obstacle course designed to teach high self-esteem
and/or humility. This course is offered to the service of other groups for
a minimal fee.
-
Counseling is provided to
the children and their families to help them understand and meet their
needs.
Lend Your Support to Southern Christian Home
Caring for children is truly a mission field in itself, and the rewards for this
type of work are eternal. There are numerous avenues through which donations
of time, resources, or money can be given in support of the work at Southern
Christian Home:
-
Monthly Contributions provide us a monthly income we can count on.
-
Annual Gifts are gifts given once a year, usually by individuals.
-
Memorial/Honor Gifts are given in memory or honor of a person or persons.
-
Planned Gifts are gifts given because individuals remembered us in their Wills or have
set up a Trust Fund benefiting the Home. The ability to give Gift
Annuities is a way to benefit the Home while giving yourself a little more
income and tax benefits. Click
here for more information on our planned giving programs.
-
Clothing Sponsorship provides the children's clothing and has them for visits.
These various types of support contribute the following percentages to the work at Southern Christian Home:
Churches: 51%
Planned Gifts: 30%
Individuals: 10%
Other: 9%
