Foster Care
Our Foster Care Mission:
Our mission is to empower churches to become communities of reconciliation; places where peace, dignity, and hope for the future can be restored to children and their families.
We believe fostering is a living expression of the gospel. It is a calling to serve vulnerable children, support broken families, and strengthen the communities around us.
Our prayer is to see a movement within the church that breaks cycles of despair and points hearts toward the One who brings beauty out of brokenness and makes all things new.

We appreciate your interest in becoming a foster family. The children we serve have experienced abuse, neglect, and the trauma of being removed from their homes. Our hope is to be a healing presence, to both give them the care they need now, as well as committing to helping them find their path. As a foster family, you will play a critical role in the lives of the children you encounter – we pray we might also be a blessing to the child’s family.
Some Common Questions:
-
To be an eligible foster family, there are a few baseline requirements we look for:
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
Married applicants must be in a stable relationship.
Finally, we ask that families thoughtfully consider the financial responsibilities of foster care and demonstrate the capacity to meet the child’s needs.
-
The journey to becoming a foster family may feel complex or uncertain at first, but at Southern Christian Children’s Home, we’ve simplified the process into four clear steps.
The first step is filling out an application and emailing it to our Social Services team.
We perform a background check.
Next, the team conducts a SAFE Home Study to get to know more about you and your desire to be a foster family.
Families receive resource training using National Training and Development Curriculum (NTDC) to prepare them for their mission.
If you would like to know more about the steps to becoming a foster family, please call (501) 354-2428 and ask to speak with Social Services.

The Home Study process and National Training and Development Curriculum are designed to be flexible, accommodating the unique schedules and availability of each potential foster family. While timelines may vary, a typical estimate for completion is six to nine weeks.
